Traveling to Nordkapp was once in a lifetime adventure. We knew it was gonna be challenging since we would need much more time to leisurely cover all that we wanted to see. As we packed up our car and prepared to embark on our epic road trip, we couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement. We had just 23 days to cover a staggering 9219,5 km, driving from the Czech Republic all the way up to Nordkapp – a journey that promised to be both exhausting and amazing, all at the same time. Our goal was to reach the real Nordkapp, but also to take pictures next to a globe, if we are already there.

The difference between the two locations at Nordkapp is that the one reachable with a vehicle is the North Cape plateau, which is a flat area with a visitor center, a globe monument, and a large parking lot. This is often considered the “official” northernmost point of Europe since it’s the farthest point that can be reached with a car or a bus.

On the other hand, the hiking point is a cliff called Knivskjellodden, which is actually located about 2 kilometers further north than the North Cape plateau. However, it can only be reached by hiking along a trail that starts near the North Cape plateau. The hike to Knivskjellodden is quite challenging and can take several hours to complete, but it rewards hikers with stunning views and the satisfaction of reaching the actual northernmost point of Europe.
