Day 18: Trondheim – Trollstigen 320 km / 4 hours and half
After a hearty breakfast at the Radisson Blu, we headed towards Trollstigen. As the planner, I was explaining to my husband our itinerary for the next day, which included driving on the winding Trollstigen road. However, he did not seem too thrilled, and during our conversation, he mentioned that the tires on the car did not look good. So, after discussing it, we decided to try and find a shop to replace the tires. While my husband was driving, I searched online and found a shop that seemed to be open. We were surprised to find out that getting new summer tires and the work done would cost us only around 600 EUR. We had expected the price to be much higher, given how expensive everything else is in Norway – especially the worldwide indicator called beer. We waited for about an hour and then set off with our new tires to our charming cottage surrounded by mountains at the Trollstigen Resort. Trollstigen Resort is a picturesque mountain resort located in the heart of Norway’s beautiful countryside. The resort is nestled in the mountains, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape, and it is close to the famous Trollstigen road.
Day 19: Trollstigen to Oslo
Waking up in a cozy cottage surrounded by majestic mountains is a dream come true for any nature lover. And that’s exactly what we experienced during our recent trip to Norway. The tranquil ambiance, fresh air, and breathtaking scenery were enough to recharge our batteries and make us forget about the hustle and bustle of city life.
One of the highlights of our trip was going on a ride on the Trollstigen Road, a scenic mountain route in western Norway. This winding road boasts eleven hairpin turns and steep inclines, offering a thrilling driving experience and spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. As we made our way up the road, we couldn’t help but marvel at the natural beauty around us, with the rugged mountains and cascading waterfalls creating an incredible sight.
At the top of the Trollstigen Road, we reached the Trollstigen viewpoint, which provides a panoramic view of the entire valley. The view was magnificent, with the lush greenery and winding roads stretching out before us as far as the eye could see.
During our hike up to the viewpoint, we came across a traffic sign that read “Trolls on Road”. We couldn’t help but chuckle at the thought of trolls being real and wandering around the area. But it added to the charm of the place, making us feel like we were in a fairytale.
After enjoying the breathtaking view, we hit the road again and drove towards Oslo, the capital city of Norway. The journey was long but beautiful, with scenic landscapes and charming villages. When we arrived in Oslo, we were eager to explore the city and all it had to offer, after experiencing the tranquility of the mountains.
Navigating the city of Oslo, proved to be a bit challenging. The hustle and bustle of the city and the high costs of parking made it tough to find a spot near our hotel in the city center. However, we were determined to make the most of our time in the vibrant capital of Norway.
After settling in, we headed out for a walk and stumbled upon the stunning Oslo Opera House. The modern architecture and panoramic views of the city from the rooftop were mesmerizing. We sat there for a while, taking in the views and admiring the sheer beauty of the building.
One of the highlights of our time in Oslo was experiencing the street food scene. I have to say, we were beyond thrilled to discover Oslo Street Food, a food court with food stalls representing various cuisines from all over the world. The concept was impressive! All we had to do was simply sit down at a table, scan the code that took us to the online menu, place our order, and pay with our credit card. It was so convenient! And to top it off, when our order was ready, they sent us a text message, and we could collect our delicious meal inside. The whole system was fantastic, and we couldn’t have been more impressed.
