Day 1: Traveling from the Czech Republic to Warsaw – 480 km / 5 hours
We kept the quote “It’s not the destination, it’s the journey” in mind as we began our journey to Warsaw on Day 1. However, our start was rocky as what should have been a 5-hour drive turned into an 8-hour ordeal.
Starting our journey on a Friday afternoon was not the best decision, as the highway was congested and full of reckless drivers (yes, Polish drivers, I’m talking to you), resulting in two accidents – one on the highway we were on, and the other on the alternative route we took. We arrived in Warsaw late and were exhausted, so we decided not to venture into the city. Instead, we found a nice restaurant near our hotel and spent the rest of the evening there. I’ve been to Warsaw before, and as it’s fairly close to us, we’ll likely visit again in the future. We stayed at the B&B Hotel Warszawa – Okecie, which had a reception open until midnight, was clean and neat, had parking, and was conveniently close to the highway. However, the hotel was located 6 km away from the city.

We discovered some lovely restaurants serving meze near our hotel. After enjoying a delicious dinner, we headed back to our room to get some rest. It had been a long day and we were looking forward to what the next day would bring.
