Szczecin has a rich maritime heritage due to its location along the Oder River and its proximity to the Baltic Sea. The city has been an important port and shipbuilding center for centuries. After a long drive, we took a relaxed walk around the city, and similar to Odense, we didn’t do much sightseeing. The trip took a toll on us and we could not wait to get to the warm beds at home. We were tired of the long drives, but we had an amazing time and created unforgettable memories. We still managed to see The Chrobry Embankment (Waly Chrobrego), a scenic promenade along the Oder River. It is a beautiful and popular place to be in Szczecin, with lots of visitors and locals. There is a lot more things to see, such as Pomeranian Dukes’ Castle, Szczecin Philharmonic, Szczecin Cathedral and much more.

Am I happy we did it? Yes, absolutely. It was an incredible adventure, but we needed more time. The driving was tiring, and we always felt a bit rushed. However, a road trip is a different type of journey. If we wanted to lounge on the beach all day, we wouldn’t have chosen this trip. I’d say with ten extra days, this trip would be perfect, but unfortunately, we didn’t have that much time. We left big cities to explore some other time for long weekends, and Tromsø put a spell on me. I would love to come back for a month during winter and enjoy the northern lights from the top of the hill.
There is a lot of places we saw during a trip, that we feel we could explore more and we will… one day…
