We awoke to a breathtaking, cold, snowy day, a scene that seemed to beckon us for a day of indulgence. Our choice for pampering was the Sky Lagoon, a geothermal spa located just 17 minutes away, a mere 7 km from Reykjavik.
The water’s temperature, ranging from 38 to 40 degrees, made it the perfect escape on a chilly day. The atmosphere at Sky Lagoon is stunning, featuring an infinity pool that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. The lagoon is surrounded by beautiful gray rocks, and the addition is a beautiful waterfall.
With a maximum depth of 120 cm, it provided the ideal setting for relaxation. What’s more, the lagoon boasts a unique feature – a bar within the pool, allowing for a nice experience where drinking in the pool is not just permitted but encouraged. Succumbing to the pressure of the moment, we decided to make a big sacrifice and ordered two beers to enjoy in the warm embrace of the Sky Lagoon. It was the perfect conclusion to a relaxing morning.

After our pampering session, we returned to Reykjavik, grabbing some late breakfast/early lunch snacks. Energized, we embarked on a sightseeing tour of Reykjavik. Our journey began at the iconic Hallgrimskirkja, a striking Lutheran church that took several decades to complete. Its design draws inspiration from the basalt lava flows commonly found in Iceland’s unique landscape.

Continuing our walk, we made our way to the Harpa Concert Hall, a beautiful modern building at the waterfront. Passing through the old harbor and Tjornin Pond on our way back, we found ourselves immersed in the charm of Reykjavik. Tjornin Pond, a picturesque locale, proved to be a delightful spot for a leisurely walk. As the day wound down, we decided to wrap up our Icelandic adventure in a somewhat cliché but delightful way – a visit to the Lebowski Bar. True to its name, the Lebowski Bar is a restaurant and bar inspired by the cult-classic movie The Big Lebowski. During our visit, the place was bustling, and we patiently waited for a table. The menu featured American-style food, with a focus on burgers and a variety of cocktails. Their signature drink, of course, was the White Russian. A visit to the Lebowski Bar seemed like the perfect way to conclude our stay in Reykjavik. As the locals say, ‘If you haven’t been to Lebowski, you haven’t been to Reykjavik.
