Our next stop for 3 nights was Isla Mucura. Isla Mucura is a coral island located in the Archipelago of San Bernardo in the Caribbean Sea. We flew from Medellin to Cartagena, and after spending one night in Cartagena, we boarded a motorboat, Traq it Easy, to Isla Mucura. The ride is very rough and takes approximately 2 hours. The maximum weight for luggage is 8 kg. They also offer a storage service for bigger pieces. The ride can be booked online but only one way. The return is possible to book in the port and is subject to availability. I found this confusing and unhelpful when planning the stay. Luckily, we managed to get seats on selected dates at the port, but it would be a big problem if we couldn’t get them.
As we arrived at Isla Mucura, it felt like we had escaped to our own private Robinson Crusoe getaway. We chose to stay at the Hostel Mucura, which provided us with everything we needed: a cozy shack by the sea, a beautiful beach, colorful fish swimming in the crystal clear waters, and a bar serving up cocktails and cold beers. While not luxurious, it certainly got the job done. The island itself is quite small, with only a few hotels and a little village. It was peaceful and serene, with no hustle and bustle of a city. We spent our days lounging on the beach, snorkeling, and exploring the island. It was a true escape from the stresses of everyday life.
